Frequently Asked Questions
The Structured Family Caregiver Waiver is a Medicaid program that allows family members to provide care for loved ones in their own homes. This type of Medicaid waiver allows caregivers to get compensated to care for a loved one with a disability or chronic illness. The waiver helps to cover the cost of caregiving, including respite care, transportation, and other necessary expenses.
To qualify for care, a client must be approved for Medicaid, live with their caregiver, and need help with activities of daily living like getting dressed or eating.
There are two other fantastic options available for care. The Medicaid PA Home Health Aide program and the Medicaid Waiver Attendant Care program are two great options where a caregiver can get compensated to care for a loved one.
The Medicaid PA Home Health Aide program enhances our Structured Family Caregiving initiative, enabling a caregiver to care for their loved one. Loved ones may simultaneously utilize both Structured Family Caregiving services and Medicaid PA Home Health Aide services. The same caregiver cannot provide both structured family caregiving care and Medicaid PA care at the same time.
